Manchester Sub Region Action Plan - Introduction

EU logoThe Manchester Sub Region Action Plan is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and aims to meet key objectives of the North West Objective Two Single Programming Document (SPD):

  • To develop a competitive and sustainable economy which offers income and employment opportunities of all ages, abilities and gender.
  • To create and protecting jobs and income by investing in new entrepreneurial business.
  • To improve the business performance of existing SMEs.

In order to meet these regional objectives we have identified three sub regional objectives on which the Manchester Sub Region Action Plan is founded:

  • To empower and enable people of all ages, races and gender to access income and employment opportunities that reflect their aspirations and circumstances.
  • To contribute to the creation of a 21st century economy through the development of new and high growth employment sectors as well as supporting the competitiveness of existing businesses, where the key features are enterprise and knowledge.
  • To address the environmental legacy of the past through supporting opportunity led investment that creates new income and employment opportunities while restoring or maintaining the environment and heritage assets of the sub region.

Measures of the Action Plan

The resources of the Manchester Sub Region Action Plan are allocated under the following measures:

  • Measure 1 - Creation and Establishment of Entrepreneurial Business Starts.
  • Measure 2 - Increasing the Competitiveness of Established SMEs.
  • Measure 4 - Developing the Regional Knowledge Economy: Supporting Business Innovation and Networking.
  • Measure 5 - Investment in Premises for New and Expanding SMEs.
